The Center Needs Partners!
Three Arts in Three Months celebrating 3 historic landmarks
For two years the Center has been building to possess the capability to
produce marketable creative capital. Now these three interlocking festivals
will fuel this community, both artistically and commercially. But, we need
partners from the community itself to do it.
These festivals are designed to celebrate the importance and uniqueness of
northeast Los Angeles, its history and its growing status as a leader in
contemporary arts and culture. The Los Angeles Times has featured the Center
seven times in the last four months, and the growth of our Center for the
Arts mirrors and contributes to the growing recognition of the importance of
the northeast. Our Center’s activities bring patrons to this community, and
this helps the businesses, which in turn helps all our stakeholders.
We need you to support this three-month, three-art spectacular. What other
community has a triangle of historic gems: the Eagle Rock, the Sylvan
Amphitheater, and the historic Center itself. More important, reflected in
all these events will be our history, and the community’s courage and
conviction; even our location will be emphasized though lighting up the
Eagle Rock itself.
Join our Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa, the Eagle Rock Neighborhood
Council, CalArts, Cultural Affairs, the Kaplan Foundation, and VPLEX in this
effort! The Councilmember has given us the monies to purchase some (though
of course not all) of the equipment necessary. We have the momentum and the
spirit; the only things standing in the way are some of the operating and
production costs.
This project will get attention, attention the Center and the community need
in these difficult economic times. Now is the time to make an investment
that will give returns not only for today but also for our children and
grandchildren.
If you would like sponsorship or individual donation package, please call

The Center for the Arts will be hosting an exciting new performing arts

appropriations, unemployed local men built the facility. Today our
Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa and the Center for the Arts will be
partnering with the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council, City of Los Angeles’
Park and Recreation Department and the Cultural Affairs Department, as well
as local businesses and arts organizations, to revitalize the site with all
disciplines of performing arts.
As many as 2,000 arts lovers will be treated to an enjoyable eight nights of
free events over a two-week period. Programming includes two nights of
classic films, a night of choreography by four Southern Californian artists
curated by Anita Pace, an Open Gate Theater production of “Dionysus in the
