ONE STOPS The One-Stop Centers are job resource centers which are geared to providing services in conjunction with a customer’s getting and keeping a job. They provide counseling, referral information, and job training and job placement for youth, adults, older workers, welfare recipients, and dislocated workers. They also help veterans, long-termed unemployed workers, laid off workers, and workers with disabilities. One-Stop Centers offer on-the-job training, specialized training, basic skills upgrading and English-as-a-Second Language. Child care assistance and transportation subsidies are provided along with services leading to job placement. Each One-Stop Center has telephones, fax machines, and computers to help the customer with finding a job. One-Stop Centers hold job search workshops for their participants. They also serve as job information clearinghouses. One-Stop services are offered at no cost to the customer.
